The Italian Glaciological Committee (CGI) has its own statute as every associative agency (PDF). In 1922, the statute defined the different categories of members, the election procedure, the institutional appointments and their duration.
Members of CGI are individuals and agencies operating in the field of glaciology and related topics (view list of CGI Members from 1914 to 1977).
The charter that is in force today (view PDF) allows a formal distinction between:
– permanent members: individuals representing agencies of national relevance supporting research activities related to the CGI.

- Autorità di Bacino del Fiume Po (Via Garibaldi 75, 43100 – Parma);
- Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano – Ufficio Idrografico, Acque Pubbliche e Opere Idrauliche (Via Mendola 33, 39100 – Bolzano);
- Regione Lombardia, Struttura Sistema Informativo Territoriale (Via Sassetti 32, 20124 – Milano);
- Provincia Autonoma di Trento – Dip. Protezione Civile e Tutela del Territorio – Uff. Previsioni e Organizzazione (Via Vanetti 41, 38100 – Trento);
– Co-opted members (view PDF): researchers with experience in glaciology, or representatives of local agencies supporting the research activities of the Committee. Co-opted members are officially in office for three years, and they can be confirmed in their appointment.
– Honorary members: researchers with a recognized excellence in scientific research and in the organizing activities of the Committee. Honorary members are entitled to remain members for life. To date, they are:

- Prof. Giuseppe OROMBELLI (Professor emeritus , Dept. Environmental Sciences, University of Milano Bicocca)
All the actions of CGI are coordinated by an executive committee composed by the president, the vice-president, the secretary general, the treasurer, the Glaciological Campaign coordinators, and by the presidents of the different research boards and working groups.
